Move every day. Your future self will thank you.
I intend on dancing my way into my 100th year, and being physically able to do all the things my spirit wants – without restriction. If there’s one thing I’ve learned in my mature age, it’s that the only way to keep moving is by moving. So, while I’m proud to claim the hashtag #fitoverforty, I plan on dominating the hashtag #fitoverninety.
If you’re anything like me, you find that taking time off from movement, brings all the things I don’t want in my life: stiffness, soreness, low energy, foggy brain, negative self talk and an overall feeling of – bleh. And, that becomes more true with every year that passes.
I’m not saying that you need to crush a HIIT workout or beat your PR for 1RM every day – that would be a bad thing, in fact – but I am saying move your body in some way, every day. That might look a lot like wrestling with your kids, opting for the stairs, planting spring flowers, painting your bathroom or playing fetch with your dog.
So, let’s keep those joints oiled, our brains firing, our muscles growing and our spirits high by respecting, caring for and using these gorgeous bodies we have been gifted.
