Gratitude is the wine of the soul. Go on. Get drunk!
Rumi
Don’t get me wrong, I love everything about my glass of wine and I do my best to enjoy every sip with presence.
But even the fanciest glass, in the most memorable location, enjoyed with the best of friends can’t compare to the utterly visceral vibrations of warmth, lightness and peace that a moment of gratitude brings to me.
If you don’t already practice daily gratitude, please make this your challenge for the week. 👇
Take three minutes, any three minutes of the day – stop what you’re doing (and thinking, and planning, and feeling). Quiet yourself enough to bring three things to mind that you are truly grateful for.
No judgment here, your three things can be the amazing cup of coffee in front of you. It can be the goofy (unfunny) joke your child told that actually made you giggle. It can be your six-pack abs.
But whatever comes to mind, sit with it. Feel it. Absorb all the goodness that resonates from tip to toe and ruminate in it for as long as it continues to tickle your every sense.
And behold – like magic, you have elevated all the energy around and inside you.
Use this tool as often as you need. On particularly trying days I’m known to go there multiple times and, of course, I incorporate my three deep breathes to give this practice even more power.
So – Cheers, my Friends. Here’s to living (legitimately) lit up.
